Indonesia's IMOTO Introduces VISION.ev: A Fast-Charging Electric Motorcycle with 75% Local Components for the Global Market

From IMOTO Press Release

IMOTO has introduced its latest innovation, VISION.ev, at a Global Debut event at the Sheraton Hotel Gandaria, Jakarta, on July 16, 2024. VISION.ev will be the first electric motorcycle in Indonesia with a target of achieving over 75% Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and is set to hit the market in 2025.

“We are very proud of the debut of the VISION.ev concept. We hope that VISION.ev will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and strengthen Indonesia's position in the global EV market. With the tagline 'Made in Indonesia, for the World,' VISION.ev reflects IMOTO's commitment to promoting the nation's innovations to the international market. From the bike design to the fast-charging battery, everything is made locally, so that we can achieve the target of at least 75% of Domestic Component Level (TKDN)," said IMOTO Indonesia Co-Founder Antony Lesmana in his official statement on Tuesday, (16/July/2024).

VISION.ev is unique as it is fully designed and engineered in Indonesia by young Indonesians in just 2.5 years. It offers a range of advantages and innovative features, including fast-charging battery technology that allows the battery to go from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes. With a 5.7 kWh battery capacity, this motorcycle can travel up to 160 km on a single charge and has a maximum speed of 105 km/h, making it excel in its class. It also has advanced digital features, such as a touch screen, infotainment system, keyless entry, and applications for tracking, geofencing, and fleet management. Its futuristic and ergonomic design is tailored to the comfort and preferences of the Indonesian market.

Indonesia is currently facing serious pollution issues, particularly in major cities, where the average person loses 2.5 years of life expectancy due to pollution. The transportation sector is the largest contributor to this problem. However, the country is at an EV inflection point, with EV adoption expected to grow by 80% in the next six years, and the market projected to exceed US$20 billion. A nationwide survey by PwC found that 50% of respondents plan to purchase electric motorcycles within the next 1-3 years. This shift toward electric motorcycles is driven by their eco-friendliness, quieter engines, lower maintenance costs, and increased government incentives.

“With the various advantages we offer in VISION.ev, we believe this environmentally friendly product will address key consumer concerns about EVs, such as fast charging, battery life, long-distance capability, and performance. This will help accelerate EV adoption. VISION.ev is also the answer for those seeking innovation and sustainability in their driving experience," said Doddy Lukito, Co-Founder.

To ensure ease of use, IMOTO is also developing an extensive fast-charging ecosystem. Public fast-charging stations will be installed at strategic points in cities and between cities, with 200 charging points planned in the first phase of the rollout.
